How often do you play with your dog? What about walk him?

I play with my dog for about 5 minutes once a day and walk him 3 times a day. The walks are only 20 minutes at most. He is a small dog though. The rest of the time I'm on my computer (working, and surfing). Am I not spending enough time with my dog? I do pet him throughout the day though. Most of the time he looks bored. I just don't want him to be sad, so how much should I play with him?How often do you play with your dog? What about walk him?
You are taking perfect care of your pooch! He's very lucky to have you as an owner. I've had my dog for 12 years and I walk him every day for 30 to 60 minutes (in one shot). He's in great shape, and is really healthy and happy at 12, I think it's because of the daily walks. I feel so sorry for dogs that only get out for walks every few days or once a week, especially the high energy dogs like mine (Australian cattle dog)

Also, when I'm home during the day I used to think my dog was bored but then I realized that dogs sleep all day. That's just what they do, they're not bored they just want to sleep.

Five minutes of play, at least one walk and pets all day are more than many get. You're a great dog parent! How often do you play with your dog? What about walk him?
you should probably spend more time playng than walking with him. i mean walking once a day is good for your dog, and twice a day is fine too aslkong as the walks arent too long. three times could be a bit much though and your probably wearing your dog out a bit.

he probably looks bored because he is so tired! i'd definitely spend more than 5 minutes a day playing with him, more like half an hour or so.

i dont personally have a dog, but for the past two weeks ive been looking after my neighbours two border collies and i walked them every two days. but that was alot for them because their owners usually only walk them once a week. i spent about forty minutes every day playing with them though, and they seemed very happy and much calmer than normal.
Well if ur on ur comp. maybe put him on ur lap, than u can pet him. i take breaks so we can like run up and down the stairs and then return to my comp. so try that
I to have a small dog and I to also spend a lot of time on the computer. I walk my dog about three to four times daily and constantly show him affection throughout the day. That doesn't necessarily mean hands on. I give him doggie bones to eradicate his boredom, and when he really wants my attention he usually comes to me with a board look on his face and if I am not to busy I'll allow him to sit in my lap while I work, depending on what I am doing at he time. That's my only real buddy.
I have four dogs, i spend a few hours a day, doing activity with them. I take them in the front yard, and play catch, tug of war and let them roam the front yard. Around 4 or 5 o clock every day, , i take them four on an hour walk. Every other day, i take them on a hike. Sometimes i take them to the park.

As for you, you dont seem to be spending enough time with your dog. 5 minutes once a day, isnt enough for someone that doesnt do anything all day but surf the web. You should at least be spending an hour or more with your dog
my dogs are walked twice a day 1 hour each time. whenever i try to play with my oldest dog, the youngest one always butts in a nicks the toy she is playing with
Eh - I say this....

Take a five minute break for every 50 minutes you spend working and surfing.

Research shows it will increase your productivity, and then you can play fetch by tossing the ball around with the pooch if he seems interested.
Often puppies sleep when they're bored! If you get up and walk around they will follow and be interested and have tons of engery waiting to be used...and spent playing w/ their best friend!!

I agree sitting him on your lap and petting him is a good idea. Dogs like being talked to as well. Even if you're talking about the news or stupid stuff on the net or your day they love it. They love hearing words they know.

Consider taking your dog to training for socilaztion and bonding with you. You'll love watching your dog learn tricks and your dog will love it too. They bond with you and get to interact and please you (which they love).

keep up the good work but, consider a few more interactive activites to keep them on their paws!
