How many miles do you walk your dog per day? What breed do you have?

I have a pug-frenchie mix who is 13 lbs. He's in excellent shape.

I am hoping that it is okay to walk him three times a day, for one mile each time. Is three miles a day walking too much or too little?

He will certainly be outside more than just the three times and played with almost constantly. How many miles do you walk your dog per day? What breed do you have?
Just be careful. Dogs with the short snout are sensitive to extreme heat and cold. You do not want to over heat him. But breaking the walk up over several shot walks should be fine.

I have a boston terrier. I take her to a trail around my housr that is 2.5 miles. How many miles do you walk your dog per day? What breed do you have?
Well during a walk, my aussie/border collie mix, Shade, generally only go about 2 miles (a mile out and a mile back) because there is no shade coverage on the roads we take, and he's pitch black, it's hard on him to walk any further. However, on HIKES in the forest, with lots of shade coverage, we generally go maybe 5 miles out, rest a while, then come back the five miles, since it takes SO LONG to hike (start at dawn, end at dusk) we only do that once a month at most. After the normal walks, we always cool down with a trot through the creek near my house and then some fetch. (he isn't allowed to drink creek water because of parasites, I bring a bottle of water for him)
';Doggies'; have no such thing as too much walking unlike somebody said...canines are designed for one thing: Distance. Cats are ambush predators, quick chase, the end. I studied African Wild Dogs and have seen them run, not a brisk jog, but RUN, for over an hour before they even spot what they're after and then run down game over a couple of miles. I have GSD's which as you know require an enormous amount of exercise, more than I can give really, so I usually have them trail the dirtbike on a path I've made in the woods behind my kennel. After the run, I slow down a bit and let them walk/jog home to cool down, sometimes I play fetch with them and let them play in the lake afterwards as well (I always hose them down, no shampoo afterwards, shampooing too much strips the skin of natural oils, but I do think they should be rinsed of the mud and lake water, but that's just me). If your dog isn't drop dead tired after his walks, you're fine. Just remember he's a short faced breed, do NOT let him over heat. I'd carry some bottled water and keep him cool with it during the summer, maybe even cut it down to 2 walks a day in the summer. Good luck, do what you think he's capable of and you should be fine.
I have a yellow labrador. I walk her about 4 miles a day.

Hmm... I think 3 times a day is fine. Since hes small maybe just take it one step at a time and see how it goes. Good thing is, if he gets tired you can just pick him up. Adult dogs, even if small can take a long walk like that. Its the puppies you have to worry about.
Well keeps walking it 3 times a day but shorten the 3 miles a day to 1 mile a day considering it is played with a lot. Doggies can't take that much walking!
Your dog can walk longer and farther than you can and yes this is fine Now I have 3 dachshunds they never get walked they play alot and run around my yard alot so they do fine.
That should be fine. If it's hot bring water
