does your dog go absolutley buts when you get home? when you have a toy, how does he/she act? do you play 24 7 with it? i do, and my dog just seems to never settle down, i have a jack russell terrior, and he goes nuts! And also, how would i stop him from chewing up all my shoes? and stuff? How playful is your dog?
I have a 4 month old ShihPoo and I am really starting to believe he is high off Biljac LMAO.. He has so much energy and then like clockwork at about 8 he just throws himself down on the be on his side and sleeps until about 5. But when he's up he's UP!!!!How playful is your dog?
my dog is really lazy!!!
:]
my dog loves people and will try to jump on everyone he see's.We got rid of him though because he couldnt be potty trained
On a scale of 1-10
My gsd is about a 7, she is always active and ready to play whenever you are, however she will sit and relax if it isnt play time.
My pit is an 11, I am convinced he's a robot because I can't even exercise him enough to get him to pant. 25 min @ 3.5 miles and hour on incline number 7 on the treadmill and he doesnt even pant..... unbelieveable.
I had a shih tzu he was very playful. When I would get ready for work he would grab my shoe and run around with it making me chance him around. When he got older...around 10 years old he started to slow down and not do the same stuff as he used to do when he was younger.
I have a Shiba Inu, he is very very playful. but they are very independent. when i get home he doesn't go nuts per se'. he bolts out of his cage and grabs the first bone or toy he sees and runs around with it, collides with the cat, has a drink of water, and wants to go outside to pee. he likes to play but he doesn't need your attention all the time. they are good at doing their own thing. he is mischeivous and will get into things so hence the cage. to stop him chewing on shoes and stuff is 1) provide many, many other toys. so his toy choices are not ';bone, shoe, pen, toy'; they are ';bone, bone, bone, shoe, toy, toy, toy'; our dog has more toys than most toddlers 2) the cage, you can get dog cages at pet stores, ours has a big cage, he's a 15lb dog but his cage is big enough for me to climb into and lay down (im 6ft 205lbs). most dogs like their cage because dogs like to be snuggled into small spaces. and the cage turns into ';their space';. many days i'll come home and open his cage and he just rolls over and lays in there for several minutes before leaving. its also his favorite place to nap, and hide his toys. i don't know if jack russels like cages but on the Shiba Inu websites they are highly recommended. 3) redirection. Shibas are not very trainable, they are more of a primal breed, they do what they want and you would be hard pressed to change that. jack russels are waay smarter than shibas so you might be able to train him. but with redirection, you basically see him chewing a shoe and say ';no'; and pick him up and carry him to a different location and give him one of his 300 bones. now our shiba mostly leaves shoes alone. he loves chewing up dirty socks though. when a sock has developed holes you can wear it one more day and tie it in a knot and give it to him and he will be occupied for hours.
1.He does go nuts when I get home
2.Sometimes he really wants to play but sometimes he just sleeps
3.Nope
4.Give him a chew toy and if he tries to chew a shoe or something quickly switch it with the chew toy!
Jack Russells are very playful and energetic, more so than most other breeds. To prevent him from chewing up your shoes, get a lot of toys, especially chew toys and treat dispensing toys that will get his attention and keep him busy.
