How to stop 6 year old dog from play biting and biting leash?

We have a 6 year old Sheltie. She's a very smart dog and loving. But, where we got her from, she was never trained as a puppy to stop play biting. She won't bite down hard at all but it's annoying when you're just trying to pet her and she'd rather play with your hand or go after my skirt, etc. She also bites down on the leash and pulls it with her. I've done some reading most of the things I found were for puppies and unfortunately she was never taught these things although I'm sure the methods are similar. Also, you can't leave shoes out or else she'll chew those too (definitely another puppy trait). What can I do to make her stop play biting hands and what have you, and biting the leash as though she's the one in control...she isn't fixed yet we plan on getting her fixed soon. Will that help? How to stop 6 year old dog from play biting and biting leash?
When my dog was younger we had a peppermint spray that we used to punish her, it didn't hurt her but she disliked it and got the idea. My neighbors have also used hot sauces before. Idk how effective it was but just another idea. Otherwise, just hold their jaws shut and scold them. Eventually they'll get the idea. How to stop 6 year old dog from play biting and biting leash?
Ummm...whenever she bits you, say ';OUCH!'; and replace it with a toy?
For the play biting, a firm ';no bite'; and pull away will help stop that with time and consistency. Stop all play or petting after you say ';no bite';.

My lab used to bite the leash too. What I found was that when I tried to pull it from his mouth he thought that was tug of war time. Teach her to ';drop it';. Get an ';approved'; chew toy and tell her to drop it and reward with a treat each time she does.

As for the chewing of everything else. You may have to baby gate her in a room that is safe where there isn't anything she can chew up. Find some stimulating chew toys like kongs or everlasting brands. Something that will make her work for a treat to keep her busy.
