Would you pay for me to look after your dog?

I had an idea on how to earn a little extra cash while I'm waiting to get employment. I would use some of my basic skills, would be enjoyable and would give my puppy a chance to socialize and play with other dogs.

I'm home all day.

I'm a 19 year old with a diploma in veterinary nursing.

I have a golden retriever pup that is 18 weeks old.

I have a fully fenced section with a small-medium sized yard.

I would offer to clip nails, some grooming, clean ears, deworm and deflea, walk the dog, give the dog mental enrichment and teach basic things such as sit, lie down, wait, stay etc (if the owner wanted) while they were at work.

I was thinking of charging $5 NZD just for coming and me watching them and maybe up to $15 - $20 per day if they wanted everything else.

Do you think anyone will be interested? And what do u think of the prices?

I'd love your help please reply!Would you pay for me to look after your dog?
The puppy sitting idea is a good one.

As for the training and grooming you should be able to provide pet owners with experience in both areas or at least some sort of a background such as courses taken in both areas.

Your prices are definitely on the low side.

If you have the property that you can put up some runs you should look into board and train. It`s the newest fad here in the US and brings in big dollars.

I know of one such person that owns a board and train facility on her own property that really had no experience training but gets $1200 per month per dog and can take up to 8 dogs at a time.

Do the math, it`s a pretty nice figure every month or weekly and she is always booked full.

Makes me wonder why I bother with teaching classes and private lessons.

Do some research on the internet you will see what I mean.

Good Luck and God BlessWould you pay for me to look after your dog?
I would! Prices are great
I think that is a great idea!

I'd pay you for sure, but I don't know your currency, so I wouldn't be able to help you with prices.

I would pay 15$ US dollars a day for him to be dropped off, and an extra 5-10$ for the other part.

My thought is that you should charge more per day, say 10$ and less for the add-ons (say 10, then you would still make 20 a day, but it sounds better!) .. You might get more people getting the addons that way!
If I needed a sitter, yes, I'd consider you...

you are very cheap.. $5 NZD is about $3 in USD.. the $15-20 NZD to come watch my dog and do some grooming and training too.. equals to about $9-12 USD a day here.. VERY cheap! You cant even board your dog at a kennel for that price! Most boarding kennels are $15-30 a day or more!
Are you licensed and bonded? If not, no I wouldn't use you.

$15.00, yes. $20.00 is a bit steep.I know that I wouldn't want you to deworm, deflea, etc. Nor would I want you to teach my dog basic commands, that's my job.

YOU DIDN'T SAY IF YOU WERE LICENSED AND BONDED. YOU DO NEED INSURANCE IN CASE SOMETHING SHOULD HAPPEN TO SOMEONE'S DOG WHILE IN YOUR CARE.
I think this sounds like a viable idea, especially with your diploma in veterinary nursing.

Your prices sound a bit on the cheap side! Though will you register this as a business or do it ';under the table';?

It would also be advisable to think about insurance.

Would you ask for proof of vaccination? This is important especially because you have a young pup at home, but also because you may be taking more than one dog into your home and you don't want to be spreading disease.

Good luck.
