How do you have fun with your dog?

what kind of stuff do you play w/ him/her, and how long.



1) is it normal for dogs to sleep more than 12 hrs?How do you have fun with your dog?
Dogs nap throughout the day and all night. However, puppies nap throughout the day and still wake up during the night. I'd take her to the vet if your DOG is sleeping for a solid 12 hours, perhaps a urinary infection? I *think* this keeps you tired, but not sure. :)



Tug of war, fetch, hide and seek, 'zoomies', catch, and 'I'm gonna get you!' are great games to play with your dog.How do you have fun with your dog?
I dont know about the sleeping part

but my dog loves to play with those rope toys and squeeky toys, he also likes to play with buckets but i dont know about that one.
I guess 12 hours is too much. But if he gets too stubborn when you're trying to wake him up, stop doing it. It will just make him more sleepy and peachy during the day and you won't really have a lot of fun playing.



If you know how to play football, or soccer if you are an American, take a ball and start dribbling it. Hide it from him and then just hit it fast and he'll go get it and start playing. It's pretty fun. But kinda scary when you have a Rottweiler monster dog 2x bigger than you :P (That's mine)



Try to attract him so that he'll want to catch you. If you have a huge front yard or a garden, show him a ball and start running. He'll follow as you run. That's pretty fun too, but also scary in my case.



After some time, he'll probably get bored and want to drink water. So let him do it and get some rest. If you keep playing too much, he'll get bored too fast and you shouldn't really do it a lot. Instead, do it rarely that he'll be more attracted when you go playing.



Well, most of the games are usually ball including. That's the easiest way of having fun :D
I do training with him, which we both enjoy. For about 15 minutes a few times a day. We also of course play fetch, I take him in the car with me and we just hang out.



Not really? It depends on how old the dog is, he/she might be bored. :-/
Yes I do, I love my dogs :) I'd rather spend time w/ them than most people. We play fetch, go for a walk/run @ the park, watch tv together, and the best part is training them to do tricks. Most dogs are eager to please and will work for treats. When they finally learn the trick, it's just so fun to watch them and makes you feel so proud. If we walk/run, it usually talks about and hour or so. Playing fetch usually takes 20 mins or so. Training time takes about 30 mins (or less) also.



A dog sleeping for 12 hours straight does not sound normal to me. None of my puppies did that. My friend's puppy sleeps most of the day but not for 12 hours straight. Usually they were up trying to play or something.
My dog loves to chase balls and play frisbee, go for walks, chase my little cousins around and watch TV with the family. And, it is actually normal for a dog to sleep for about 14-16 hours depending on breed. Larger breeds need their rest because just walking takes a lot of work for them while smaller breeds run out of energy fast because their bodies just can't store that much. Mid-sized breeds such as border collies and golden retrievers usually are awake for more hours a day but they do need a few hours of down time, even when they're awake.

Dog's will sleep whenever you allow them to. My dog used to sleep a lot until I started playing games with him.



Things I do to keep my dog entertained and active are:



1. (carefully) play fetch in the house.

2. DOG PARK!! they love it and you can just chill while they run around with other dogs. look some up

online

3. my dog likes empty water bottles lol. he likes to take the tops off, then he's done. always supervise though

4. training him/her a new trick. thats always fun (sometimes frustrating) i do this when im REALLY bored

5.play hide and seek. i take something that smells really good and hide it. and he tries to find it. i also play hide and seek with him by telling him to sit and wait. then i hide, and call his name. he tries to find me. lol pretty fun
