When is the last time you saw your dog running in a straight line for a long distance?

When was the last time you let your dog be a dog? If you took your pal out to play in the hills near your home and let him sniff and run and play and go a small distance from you only to come running back don't you think he would enjoy it? If your dog goes behind a bush for 30 seconds sniffing a rabbit hole do you freak out you can't see him a moment? When you let him run are you constantly calling his name in earnest and fear conditioning him not to listen to you, you let him off to run but keep calling his name, why? Why do you think he goes crazy when you open the door and try to leash walk him? Could it be he is out of his mind with energy and want to run? Maybe giving your dog time in a open field away from roads is the key to him behaving on walks. It worked for ours, it was amazing the difference once we gave them run time to be a dog how they were willing to be obedient on a leash knowing the time to run would be given to them again. When is the last time you saw your dog running in a straight line for a long distance?
You're off your meds, aren't you sweetie?

That's OK, I see puppies in the forest sometimes too.

Take your pills and take a nap. It will all be better when you wake up.When is the last time you saw your dog running in a straight line for a long distance?
My dogs have 50 acres to run on, and I trust them completely. I don't have to keep calling their names.
Rant and Rave Much?

That is what off leash dog parks and large backyards are for.
i have 2 grown boys that take my pal out for a long run at least twice a week. He loves it and is really tired when he gets home, but would go again if asked. He likes to go to the doggy park also but is scared to go to far away from me.
When was the last time? About 4 hours ago. I still keep them in sight - they are my responsibility and if I cannot see them, I blow my whistle for them to come back.

I don't freak out - I supervise.
I have never had to walk a dog. I live on an half acre %26amp; at the moment I only have 3 dogs. They run this property all day. There are dogs behind us %26amp; on both sides of us %26amp; all but one house on this street has at least one dog but most of us have several.

I used to have a dobie that I took camping %26amp; she was all over the place. While hiking she'd be way out in front, the all of a sudden she comes up from behind. I didn't have to keep calling her cause she was always coming back to check on me. She got to where she killed her own food. A very loyal dog that later became a highly trained Police dog. She did her job real good. She won in one Police dog trial. %26amp; took second in a couple of others.
