Does your dog know how to share?

Mine doesn't. I can pick up a toy that he hasn't played with in weeks, maybe months, but if he seems be playing with it and squeeking it, then he HAS to have it. Anyone else have dogs that don't like to share?Does your dog know how to share?
Haha..Yup :) There can be a toy that one of my dogs just looked at, sniffed and walked away. Then my other dog comes up picks the toy up and chews it. then the dog that just sniffed it and walked away, comes up and tries to take the toy away from the dog that has it lol.....My dogs are greedy guts! :DDoes your dog know how to share?
Not really, but my dog isnt that big so i just take it from him!
My puppy was like that when he first came home, but a couple weeks of resource guarding training fixed the issue. He now shares wonderfully with my other dog and lets me take anything away from him I want.
The word ';share'; is a non-word as far as dogs go. Dogs relate to things with a pack mentality. If it is an only dong, then you, the family members, are the pack. They just want to get in on ';Pack play';.
No, Tiger's fine with sharing his stuff. He just gets mad and growls when another dog comes and trys to eat his food when he's eating. If it's just a bowl with food in it, he's Ok, but if he's eating out of it, and a dog comes up, get ready for some major growls! He won't do it to people, though! :)
my dog Dakota is like that!

She don't share her toys with Duke! If I give a toy to Duke she will go up to him and he drops it so then Dakota takes it!
Dogs dont have the concept of ';sharing'; like you and I do.

Dogs have a pack mentality.. and a concept of ';mine';. A dog will give up an item to the Alpha in the pack, but is not so willing to give up that item to other pack members unless they are quite a bit higher than them on the totem pole!.. and likewise the Alpha will give an item if that pack member has pleased him/her.. its a great thing to recieve an item from the Alpha!
My dog shares! It is so cute! You see, he is a 60 pound mutt (browser), and i have alittle 18 pound shih tzu (coco). Coco is a pig, and wants anything that Browser has! So, coco will lay down, stick her little booty in the air, and wiggle her tail, and bark at browser. Browser will get up, and give coco his toy or bone! It is the sweetest thing! Coco also LOVES to eat! As browser is eating, she will stick her head in the bowl and eat all of his food first, before she goes to hers! Browser has never made a beep, and just sits there and lets it happen. All in all, my one dog shares, but my other is selfish! lol.

But, whenever i have on of browsers squeeky toys, he can't help himself! He HAS to have it!

good luck!
Nope...I don't think Loki knows what ';sharing'; means. If i pick up ANYTHING....a blanket, a cushion, the newspaper, even a brick!!, he will jump up trying to grab it off me. Usually it turns into a tug-o-war match. Loki thinks EVERYTHING is a game!!!!
yea ';sharing'; does not exist in the dog world. mine doesn't share, but he is the only dog in the house. i can take it away from him. you just got to show him who's the leader. Here's a cute poem that I found online.

DOG PROPERTY LAWS

1. If I like it, it's mine.

2. If it's in my mouth, it's mine.

3. If I can take it from you, it's mine.

4. If I had it a little while ago, it's mine.

5. If it's mine, it must never appear to be yours in any way.

6. If I'm chewing something up, all the pieces are mine.

7. If it just looks like mine, it's mine.

8. If I saw it first, it's mine.

9. If you are playing with something and you put it down, it automatically becomes mine.

10. If it's broken, it's yours.

%26lt;--- Doesn't care. He is old enough that if you really want what he has, he'll simply give it to you and go take a nap.

On the other hand, my daughter has a year old lhasa that almost screams, ';Mine, mine, MINE!'; if you even look at her toys. Sometimes we have some fun with her and pass off silly things as hers -- cups, toilet paper rolls, etc. just so we can watch her carry them around. She's a little goof ball!
