I have a beagle/jack russell mix puppy.
What's your favorite game to play with your dogs? And how do you get a dog to catch a frisbee in their mouth? thanksNew game ideas?
My dog has OCD and loves to chase flashlights, lasers, shadows, etc. on the floor. He pounces on them like a cat and can do it for hours.New game ideas?
I have two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. One is a lazy bum, so we don't actually play. And my other is very active. I usually just throw a random toy and he likes to retrieve. Other than that we play a bit of tug-o-war.
For the other question. You usually want to throw the frisbee a few feet away from you and make sure your puppy is paying attention! After a few tries (Depends on the dog, really) then he will catch it. Each time he catches it begin to throw it farther and farther away, until he masters it.
Note: It may take a few days
Everytime he lets you put the frisbee in his mouth, give him a treat. Pretty soon he'll chase it.
Play at very short distances to begin with so you can give a reward if they catch it. Make sure to whoop it up any time they catch the frisbee in their mouth. That will get them excited to do it again. Add more distance between you and where they catch it as they improve.
You can also play Ready, Steady or the 1,2,3 game. These games can be found in the book: Ruff Love (www.cleanrun.com). These games help dogs to focus drive.
well my dog loves loves to chase lasers , and to play fetch and also which I thought she hated is swimming but I was wrong she loves to jump into the water and swimm in circles.
