If the problem appears suddenly in multiple family members after having no allergic symptoms to the dog before, I would suspect that the dog came in contact with an irritating substance (poison ivy, fiber glass, pollen, mold) and that the reaction was to that irritant and not to the dog. If you are concerned, your doctor can pinpoint the allergen with some simple testing.

If you are allergic to your dog, the easiest thing to do is to simply improve their hygiene and the cleanliness of your house. People are allergic to pet dander, not hair, but both can be reduced by daily brushing and weekly bathing of your dog, and frequent vacuuming of areas where the dog likes to hang out. Unless your allergy is severe, simply washing your hands after petting the dog (and before touching your face) should make a huge difference. There are also medications available to help reduce allergy symptoms. How do you play with your dog when you are allergic to it ?
if you are allergic to dogs, you shouldnt have one.

it sounds mean but allergies are more serious than most people think
as the first answer said, if you are allergic to the dog, you shouldnt have it.
it may not be an allergy so i'd get it tested, if it is an allergy then i dont think you will be able to keep him/her...
Wash your hands right after playing with the dog and remember not to touch your eyes or face while playing with the dog. There is also shampoo you can get to wash your dog to reduce allergens and you can take a benedryl
