My lab will run up and bite, gently, my mix's neck. He'll try a couple of times until the mix starts playing too or he makes it clear he has no interest in playing.
The mix starts play by bringing a toy/stick over the lab and sticks it in his face until he'll join in tug of war.
I find it interesting that they both have such differently styles of intiating play....I'm interested to hear how your own dog tells another dog he is wanting to play. How do your dogs initiate play with other dogs?
My dogs will play bow to each other and then their off! :)
Sometimes the pup will just jump on one of the older boy's here but he will usually just whine or bring a ball or other toy for them to interact with him with. He can be pretty persistant when he wants to be too. :)How do your dogs initiate play with other dogs?
My dog bends down really low. And then she darts up into the other dog's face and runs off.
Then they play tag. lol. It's the funniest thing ever.
My Wheatie takes and toy and bows at my Rat 'Terror'. That usualy does it.
dogs talk in silent dog-talk which humans cannot hear.
She runs up tp them, bites their legs lightly, then rolls on her back and wags her tail! Its so cute!
well i hav 5 dogs and 4 of them r poodle mixes. my poodles like to start randomly biting each other unless the other one really doesnt want to play and then they fight. usually the DAD loses to the mom lol. they also like to chase each other in the yard then trample each other by stopping really fast or my golden retriever suddenly tramples them. its kinda funny to see them play and then all try to tackle the big golden. thts basically why my dogs do to play
My dog plays differently with each of his friends. He has a huge lab named nala that he wrestles with and chases her. He has a westie and they kind of just bounce around and bark and run in circles, he had a BC friend that they used to run fast with and then he has another friend that he plays herding games with and tug of war. When he meets toy breed dogs or puppies, he is so gentle with them. So smart they are these dogs. I guess the dogs are communicating.
My dog will bend down low and stick her butt up in the air. She'll then jump in circles to get the others attention and say ';Chase me! Chase me!';
Very entertaining to watch!
My cocker spaniel just runs up and starts jumping on the dog/person when she wants to play. Probably not the best habbit.
Never get worried about your dogs playing together! I have one BIG dog and 2 LITTLE dogs. The big one and little one always play and the big one gently bites the little ones neck. If my big dog ever hurt my little one, the little guy will defend himself. The only time to get worried is when you see really bad agressiveness tword each other.
When my little guy does NOT ant to play he will just walk away or sometimes growl.
Hope this helped!!!
my dog will paw the other dog's face or get really low on his two front paws and bark high pitched yaps
I love this question!
Miss has to be friends with another dog first, usually. Sometimes she'll hit it off great with a dog on a first meeting and start throwing play bows out like she's a puppy again.
Miss will play bow, and if the other dog doesn't respond quickly, she'll put her butt down like ';Oh, I was just stretching.'; She'll also bite at other dogs' faces or necks, depending on the dog. With Kristy, the family dog, she can often do the bite thing or just roll over and start kicking her. It's pretty hilarious.
We have 2 boxers that when they want to play they will do the doggie bow. Front legs down on the ground with the back end up in the air. It is really cute. They also will take their paw and smack at each other. They use their front paws alot. Sometimes they just start chasing each other around.
