How do you keep your dog from playing with skunks?

I live inner city --mine got one on Monday and another one on friday -- yes that is 2 skunks in 5 days

the yard is chainlink fenced in but there are a number of skunks around the neighborhood

or how to keep the skunks out of my yard- twice in 5 days is twice too much for meHow do you keep your dog from playing with skunks?
Skunks are attracted by food... even dog food left at night.

Try to clean it up.

You can go to local pet stores and feed stores for skunk repellent. How do you keep your dog from playing with skunks?
keep ur dogs inside for more time..then they won't be able to play w/ skunks...
keep your dog inside!
you may be able to find skunk repellant at hardware stores, make sure there is no food or garbage left out to attract them.. in the meantime, walk your dog on a leash when its dark outside so you have control of him
Do you have your dog food outside, or leave garbage out in the yard.. Skunks really don't come around much unless there is good reason. I can't believe your dog went after a skunk a 2nd time.

At night when I let the dogs out, I make noise so that if there is a skunk in the yard, he has good chance to get the heck out of here.
Don't leave him in the yard alone - he'd rather be inside with you. Then don't invite the skunks in - problem solved.
~You have to eliminate all the hiding spots for skunks. Cut back shrubs and clean up ground cover.

~Patch holes in and under the fence.

~If you have any buildings/sheds where they can hide, make them ';skunk'; proof. Don't forget the area between the shed and the fence, that's prime hiding space. Put boards up, or sharp rocks in there.

~Quit feeding birds, they will happily eat spilled bird seed, you are attracting them to the yard.

~Cats too. Skunks love cat food.

~Talk to your neighbors. Everyone needs to do the same.

You all have to make it an uncomfortable place for skunks.

~Trap the skunks. Some cities have passed ';urban wildlife'; laws saying they can live here too, but if you don't harm them, you can release them in a park or something.

~See if you can obtain Moutain Lion or Wolf urine. Spray that around, that should be a deterent. Moth balls sometimes work too, but they can be dangerous to dogs. If yours will eat them, skip it.

Hope this helps.
Move to australia... no skunks.
