My dog just wants food tell me how to make him want to play with you. he is a golden retrieverHow to make your dog play with you?
well..to start with,if your dog loves to EAT :) id play with FOOD..but wait..not just food.I tried these huge dog MEAT bones.You can find them for 5-10$ at pet stores or pet supply stores and they last a long time.If he likes to wrestle then play with the bone(you on one side him on the other)..if he dont like wrestling try a ball or toy that you could possibly stick a piece of something like bacon treat..and trow it so he goes and get it.(play ball with him...but make sure you let him smell it before you trow it and ask him to bring it back.) play for a while till you're tired and let him try getting the treat inside(to calm the play a little) this should help..if not..maybe some regular exercise to start.(get back his cardio ON the GO!)
Good luck with that,hope this helped! :)How to make your dog play with you?
Take him outside and play tug. Or go out in the yard and run and jump and make noise. He will think you are very strange and want to do it too. Use toys like balls, ropes, tires, and Kong.
oh geez, retrievers love to retrieve - throw balls ... they love balls and love chasing things
This may seem weird but you may have seen dogs do this when playing-get on all fours, kind of bow in that position, and smack the ground with your hands-its easier to do if you see a dog do it. This body language should be a signal to your dog, and I'm sure the first few times she sees you do it will definitely grab her attention! I do it with my dog, and we've actually gotten into play dog games-just copy what they do.
I ran in circles on the house and my dog follows me and then he starts to chase me jumping all around the house.
I throw a ball and he runs after it and then he brings it back to me.
Dogs seem to know when it is play time so dont worry too much about it.
Sgt and Grace are right. If those tactics don't work, put yourself in the play position in front of your dog. When a dog sees another dog (especially puppies) that it wants to play with it stands on its hind legs and puts its head and elbows on the floor and wags its tail. Sometimes when I really want to get my dog going I get down on the floor on my hands and knees with my hands on the floor way out in front of me and my head low. She goes crazy with play. Slap you hands gently on the floor or even in you dogs direction; try not to appear too aggressive and he will start to play. Then introduce the ball or other toy. Try tug of war with a knotted rope from the pet store.
Tie a bone to your waist and throw yourself outside. {鈥?}
Show him a tennis ball, shake it in front of him and get him excited, then throw it. When he gets to the ball tell him how brilliant he is, and lure him over with a treat. Hopefully he will bring the ball with him and you can ';trade'; the treat for the ball. This is how you teach him to fetch. This works the same regardless of the toy. If he needs motivation to feel bonded with you, start taking him for walks, teaching him tricks, brushing and petting him.
Play?..don't waste your time.
