Is your dog needy?

I love my dog with all my heart but she is like a shadow. Anywhere I go in the house, she goes. She has lots of toys that she doesn't play with, and only wants to exist within 2 feet of me. When I tell her to shoo I feel bad because she acts like I just broke her heart. All she wants to do is play with me.



She's 4. How do I make her less needy? Is your dog needy?Is your dog needy?
I have a 7yr old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and she is very needy! She is always underfoot! It seems like I can't take a step without tripping over her! If you go into a room with another person and then close the door she starts to wimper and bark! When you find out how to make them less needy let me know! I have tried everything and nothing has worked!Is your dog needy?
I have goldens and that's their nature. They need to be with their people. I suspect it's your dog's nature and her personality. Be happy she loves you so much.



By the way I have two dogs and they adore each other but they BOTH follow me around. So another dog won't change it.
Don't, this is dog ownership! You shouldn't have gotten a dog if you never wanted this. She just loves you.



My Shih Tzu is like that, and I love her to death. She's laying next to me now. The vet just says she has separation anxiety. Yours might, too. I try to make her happy and take her with me everywhere, and I love taking her to the park.

try giving her a stuffed kong with treats. i have a 1 year old yorkie and she does the same thing,but when i give her the kong and try to take it away she bites me so hard that my hand starts bleeding.but it will get her to stop being so needy lol
Your Dog need more exercise. My dog acts needy when he's bored. throw the ball a few times and tire her out. Good Luck!
This is a healthy thing in a dog. Dogs are pack animals. You are her pack. More than that, you are her pack leader. She's probably very confused - and yes, possibly heartbroken - that you don't want her around all the time.



I've learned to multi-task and play with my dog while doing other things. If I really need to give my full attention to something other than him, I at least let him sit near me while I do it.



If you want a pet that isn't so ';needy';, get a cat. (I have three of those, too. They're good at ignoring us!)
there is nothing you can do about a dog loving you. I have a 2 yr old JRT and she follows me around all day long and when I leave and my dad is the only one home she goes and lays outside my bedroom door and will not come downstairs until I get home. They can't even get her to come down to go to the bathroom or to eat. So that is the first thing that I have to do when I get home. She even sits with me in the chair while I am on the computer, the only time she is not following me is when she is out back, eating or has decided that she wants to play with one of the other dogs even though she would much prefer to play with me all day long. Just be glad that you have a dog that loves you enough to want to be around you all day long.
